Ritual Committee
Lori Weiner, Ritual Chair

 Ritual Committee Mission

Ritual Committee Mission Statement:  The A in TBA:  Avodah. Advance spirituality through worship, prayer and Torah and through that to achieve the others.

The Ritual Committee serves as the "spiritual pulse of Temple Brith Achim." Along with the Rabbi, we help define and implement the worship experience and ritual policies of the congregation.

The Ritual Committee partners with just about all other committees and auxiliaries to balance the spiritual life and engage others. Promoting religious practices is aimed not only to inspire our congregants to a deeper observance but also to transfer these practices into our homes to enhance the values of Jewish living.

The committee discusses issues and problems, acting autonomously on some and making recommendations to the Board of Trustees on others.  We also help plan events such as Shabbat in the Park and prepare the Temple for the High Holiday season as well as our other holidays and celebrations.

Presently the committee has about twelve members who have been engaged in this committee for a long time. All come from different backgrounds and are deeply interested in the content and style of religious services and practices at Temple Brith Achim.

Our goal this year is to devote attention to:

· Policy revision for life cycle events such as weddings/funerals, and baby namings
· Clarification and written policy on the use of the social hall to non-congregants
· Building the Ritual Committee to include new members from across the generations
· Renaming the committee

The Ritual Committee meets the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Library Lounge and is a great way to share your perspective on spiritual life and ritual behaviors.
