The Adult Education committee offers a wide variety of learning opportunities throughout the year. The featured event of the year is our weekend long scholar/artist-in-residence program, during which we invite a renowned Jewish educator to live with our community and share with us his or her experiences and wisdom. Past scholars have included nationally acclaimed, award winning singer song-writer Beth Schafer, Tel-Aviv University Professor of Jewish History Paul Liptz, and Rabbi Rex Perlmeter, Senior Rabbi of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation.
In addition, the Adult Ed committee sponsors a popular Jewish film series called Reel Nights, curated by Michel Jeruchim. This series which takes place on Saturday evenings in the Fall, Winter and Spring, features little known, but wonderful films with a Jewish theme and a lively discussion of the movie afterward.
This year, Adult Ed is teaming up with the Empty Nesters group to offer a pot luck supper, open to all, before each movie. Other programs include the Rabbi's monthly lunch-n-learn series, and joint programs with other TBA groups, including Social Action, Caring Community and Outreach about issues of importance to our Jewish community. Committee meetings take place throughout the year.
