Annual Membership Commitment for the year of July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 |
| Temple Brith Achim financial matters are established in the context of Jewish values, principles and ethics. |
While Judaism itself can thrive without reference to finances, a community of Jews and their families who are committed to the purposes of the synagogue – learning, worship, and fellowship – does need financial resources to help each other and themselves. |
All members contribute financially, according to their ability, and as their hearts so move them. Financial ability is not a barrier to membership. |
An appropriate membership commitment reflects our shared responsibility to support a vital community that was present when we joined and must continue to be present for those who will follow us, in order to preserve our Jewish heritage, to support and develop Jewish knowledge and learning, to provide a place for us to worship together and to share the joys and sorrows of the life cycle. |
The Annual Membership Commitment is not meant to reflect “fee for service” or program usage for any given household, but rather to meet the needs of the community. |
The Annual Membership Commitment is intended to be progressive, not regressive; those who can contribute more are asked to do so. |
The Annual Membership Commitment reflects sensitivity to special needs of each household. |
The Annual Membership Commitment is intended to ensure that everyone feels appreciated for their appropriate and fair contribution. |
The Annual Membership Commitment is determined voluntarily by you. |
In order to maintain fiscal health, Temple Brith Achim asks each household to strive for an annual membership commitment of $2,242. |
For those households who are able, please consider a larger amount (such as $6,000, $4,600 or $3,200). |
For those unable to commit to $2,242, please consider a minimum commitment of $1,121 or more. |
Every household is an equal part of the Temple Brith Achim community. Please be assured that your commitment is strictly confidential. | |
| |
| We need your active participation in our community. Please volunteer for one or more of the following efforts or feel free to indicate other areas that will make use of your talents and abilities. This does not commit you to actual membership on a committee, but lets us know where your interests lie so we may invite you to help as the need arises. |
A Building Fund Commitment is assessed on all new Member Units. They may satisfy their commitment to the Building Fund in one of the following ways:
Plan I $555 per year for 3 years or $1,665
Plan II $465 per year for 4 years or $1,860
Plan III $400 per year for 5 years or $2,000
Singles, age 30 and over, are assessed at one-half of the above building fund rates.
Seniors are exempt from the Building Fund.
Families and Singles below age 30 may elect to defer their commitment to the Building Fund until the first membership year during which that category no longer applies.
Building Fund obligations are waived for new members who can demonstrate proof of Building Fund payment completions at another URJ synagogue, as long as the amount was equal to or greater than Temple Brith Achim’s current Building Fund. If the amount paid at another URJ synagogue is less than the current TBA Fund, the new member will be credited for that amount and will be responsiblefor paying the difference.
Building Fund obligations must be completed three months before the date of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
Contact Kareen Hartwig, Financial Secretary to discuss any needed exceptions momwig@aol.com or 610-585-2804.
