Lifelong Jewish Learning
“…when it comes to Jewish education, the measure of success is never just ‘how much has been learned,’ but rather how motivated Jews are to continue their learning and activism once the program is finished.”
Jewish learning is progressive throughout our life stages as our interests and situations change, and the education process can go way beyond what you learned or did not learn back in religious school.
Mission
The mission of the House of Lifelong Jewish Learning is to be a catalyst for Temple Brith Achim in becoming a congregation of learners and to support learning opportunities for all members of our congregation from young children through adulthood.
The LLJL:
* Coordinates TBA’s diverse educational programs including the school, family education, Torah study and a wide variety of other adult education classes.
* Facilitates potential collaborations between relevant committees
* Assesses congregational learning needs and interests
* Organizes adult education opportunities by providing instruction directly, bringing in guest presenters, arranging for study and discussion of contemporary issues and provides resources to support the programs when necessary.
In addition, the LLJL serves as a “think tank” to develop new and innovative strategies to encourage Jewish learning. We explore and implement models of programming, and develop strategies for recognizing the educational achievements of congregants.
Message from the Chair House of Life-long Jewish Learning
In partnership with the Director, Lifelong Jewish Learning, our team members create and coordinate a variety of educational programming for all ages. The programs include monthly movie nights "Reel Nights", Text study, Hebrew classes, study and discussion of contemporary issues and topics, b'nai mitzvah classes and scholar in residence programming. Some of the educational opportunities are one-time presentations and some are ongoing for the year and centered around a theme.
We try to vary the days and times to accommodate everyone and encourage interaction among class members during learning sessions. You can attend one or many - you will find that the diversity of the programming allows for all levels of Jewish learners to enjoy and benefit from our sessions. Please look for specific family education and adult education opportunities in our monthly bulletin and weekly announcement. Come join us!
Please contact us for ideas or questions through the Temple Brith Achim religious school office at schooloffice@brithachim.org. or Rhonda Hager
