Temple Brith Achim Sisterhood
Temple Brith Achim's Sisterhood provides both a collective identity for the women in our congregation and an outlet for the creative energy, talent and leadership of each of its members. Read More Below.
Temple Brith Achim's Sisterhood provides both a collective identity for the women in our congregation and an outlet for the creative energy, talent and leadership of each of its members. Through our affiliation with the Women of Reform Judaism, Sisterhood provides both a national and worldwide connection to other Jewish women. Sisterhood supports our congregation in so many ways. We present gifts to B'nai Mitzvah students and Confirmands; and at Purim we hand deliver Mishloach Manot packages to the entire congregation. We raise funds for special projects that benefit both our temple and the community at large.
Members of Temple Brith Achim's Sisterhood automatically become members of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). WRJ represents over 75,000 women in 500 Sisterhoods throughout the United States, Canada and thirteen other countries. WRJ founded the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). It is the largest single contributor to the Rabbinic Scholarship Fund for Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). It supports the World Union for Progressive Judaism which helps establish congregations and provides rabbinic leadership in more than 40 countries. WRJ established the Jewish Braille Institute (JBI) which prints prayer books for the blind. It is an advocate and collective voice for Reform Jewish women.
Sisterhood needs the support of all of the women in the congregation. It is our sincere hope that every woman in our congregation will join us. Whether you come to meetings, programs, help us organize and plan events, make purchases in our Gift Shop or just submit your dues, you are choosing to support Sisterhood. Your level of participation is up to you, but please remember that a dynamic, warm and inspired group of women awaits you, however you choose to participate.
